Poems are still emerging from me, thanks to 2021 POPO, brainchild and long-time project of the inestimable Paul Nelson, whose middle name begins with E, but, sadly, is almost certainly not Euell like my grandfather, father, brother, AND Euell Gibbons, who said “Ever eat a pine tree? Many parts are edible” on TV.

For this year’s fest, I made every one of the postcards I sent – many of them watercolor and masking tape-based, all of them on watercolor paper cut to size by me with my X-acto knife on my self-healing mat, usually on my dresser. Many of the 62 – I signed up for two groups, accidentally, but was glad of that, featured quotes by poets.

I’d intended to lead with bits from the workshop I took with Diane di Prima at a CPITS Conference in the aughts, then couldn’t find the folder, so wandered a bit far afield from quotes by her and her immediate circle, though Lawrence Ferlinghetti wound up figuring prominently because of Poetry as Insurgent Art.  (and because Coney Island of the Mind since high school.)

I’ve put more cards in the blog section of this website. Enjoy!
